Default question on headlights

Hi all, new to the forum here and I have a few questions that I can't seem to find the answer to. And yes I have searched the site and googled lol. I have a 1996 A4 B5, and I am looking to replace the stock headlights with after market projectors and HIDs. The fog lights on my A4 are inside of the headlight assembly and i have not been able to find a replacement headlight that also has a spot for the fogs. Do they even make them? and if i cant find one that will have a spot for the fogs and i take them out will this throw off a code? thanks for your help.

They are fog lights. Before the facelift in 99.5, the fog lights were integrated with into the two-piece headlight housing. After, obviously, they were moved to the lower grilles. To my knowledge, no one makes projectors that retain the integrated fog lights. Probably because they would interfere with the projector lense. I've done the 2-piece-to-1-piece conversion on my car, thus losing the fog lights. I capped off the hot leads from the fog lights and just tucked them back into the harness for the time being, it won't throw any codes. Also, for the record, your rear fog light WILL still work.

As for replacements, you can go with the 2-piece DEPO projectors (aka S4 projectors) like ImTheDevil has on his car (check out his garage, there are pics there). Or you can do like me and do the conversion. Little more complicated, but definitely not rocket science. If you'd like more info on that i'll be happy to elaborate.

vampyre308...

GOOD Question...in the same boat and reviewing posts to see what the deal is.

Given that.....can we do the post 99.5 fogs into the bottom grill????

Mine are all over as the adjuster plastic is all broken and I need something brighter here in the country so I can play frogger with the deer!!!

which are the ones that i see all over eb*y that same NO modification required?? Those look like a 2pc to one pc conversion.

I will have to look around and see what the options are as you stated above cca4.

Thanks

and tmanley I am there with you and was thinking the same thing about relocating the fogs down into the air dam, or bottom of the grill. More research to do and I'll wait for warmer weather to do that. Will keep you posted if you like.
