Question Quick question..

Just wanted to say hello, new to forums..

I have a 2001 a4Q, 5spd sport (just turned 30k ). My question is the little headlight sprayers that pop-up in the bumper aren't working now. I tried a search but I didn't know what they were called. What are they called, and how can I troubleshoot those,

*Also, My car has the sport package, but when i look at the shocks, they are black (front & rear). I have had the car since new, and never replaced the factory shocks yet. Its my understanding that Sport shocks are red? Am I missing something?

Thanks

Howdy and welcome!

Those things that spray your headlamps are called headlight washer jets.

If both of them are not working, I would check the fuse that controls them. If the fuse is okay, there may be a relay for them, but I'm not positive.

I'm not sure about the sport suspension, but a quick search for "sport suspension" may lead you to the answer, or someone else will hopefully chime in to provide the answer.

as far as the headlight washers go how would you know if they work? its a catch 22 cause you cant watch them as you moving the lever but i dont think mine have ever worked. i dont know whats wrong but i dont mind cause they just dont see necessary. as for the suspension sport shocks should be red. perhaps you have aftermarket? what color are the springs and are their color marks, namely violet, on the springs? also how low is the car? regular versus sport ride height is easily distinguishable

For the sprayers I had my wife use em, while I watched to see if they worked (they worked b4) I checked the 5amp fuse, its fine, so im thinking its something else.

The front shocks are RED, they just so rusty, they look black. As for the rears, they are Def Black. No after-market parts on my car, Still All stock. Car sits at 26.25" at all 4 corners if that helps. And still on Factory RS4 225/45/17 rims.

just so you know they are actually called celerbration rims if you have the ones im thinking about. if they are b5 rs4 rims, they were 18inch stock. if the front ones are red you should have sport suspension. there should be a few dots of colors on the springs. what are they?

You did try the sprayers with the headlights on right? They only work with the lights on.

Yes, they are red in front/black in back, so thats the sport suspension then? I dont see any colors on the springs, they just look black.
The rims are the 9spoke 17" that come with the sport package, always here them called RS4 rims.

*This isnt my car, its a stock photo* But my car looks exactly like this but with 17" version of these rims.

Yep, had headlights on/off, swapped out fuse with new 5amp, glove box light works too. Do they run off a vacuum line? I know it sounds silly to some, but its the little things that bug me like this, lol

This is my 2001 2.8Q 5spd Sport with 30,000 miles, after I dug it out of 3 feet of snow.
