I always thought it was the timing belt tensioner that failed, not the belt.

the tensioner can fail, but we have seen more belt failures than anything else. We spoke to several shops we have relationships with and they all agreed that their have been more belts that sheered teeth than any other reason.

I've been hearing things about this kevlar belts. I work on porsches, and the 4 cylinder motors use a timing belt. We replace the belts every 30k. What is your take on a belt for these motors? Do you guys supply a kevlar belt for porsche? What time/mileage warranty are you guys supplying?

Right now we do not supply a kevlar belt for Porsche. So far we've only come out with this kevlar belt for the 1.8t, which comes with a 100,000 mile guarantee. If there is ever a reported BELT failure before 100,000 miles we will replace the BELT no questions asked. We are not guaranteeing any other timing related parts (ie tensioner). B/c it's too easy for someone to install just our belt, then let something like the tensioner fail, and then blame it on our belt. So if this belt fails before 100,000 miles, we will send you a new one at no charge. We have done extensive testing on this belt tho, and it cleared the 100,000 mile mark with no problems. It's a solid belt and a must have ESPECIALLY for the higher hp 1.8's.

Your kit would be great if it also included a water pump...i mean you have a picture of it, but not included in the list. I'm in the shopping for a timing belt kit as I'm going to be tackling this maintainance job this spring. You price is right there with ecs tuning though....but i like the guarantee of the kevlar belt...this would mean i would not have to worry about this maintainance job for 100k miles? inlcuding all the other parts???? Cause it will not make sense if I have to go in there and change a tensioner or pulley @ 60k or watever and not have to touch the belt.....not sure here.......
