Question Radiator Fan Clutch.......??

Hey guys

Well, I got my coolant flushed today and I asked the shop to check my engine thermostat too. I went to pick up the car and they told me that the reason my car has been running "cool" is because the clutch on the fan behind the radiator (not sure what its called ) is burnt out, causing my fan to run at all times, even at very high RPM's. The nice thing is that it wont exactly hurt my car and hasnt, it just means less gas mileage and eventually I will blow the fan, but im not worried. Anyways, they quoted me $333 for the fan itself and $221 for labor because you have to rip off the front bumper to replace the clutch.... Anyways, I am glad that its not anything too serious and I am not going to get it fixed until I do my timing belt because that $221 labor will drop to like $40-50 since the bumper will already be off for the belts.

So, what exactly is this fan? And have any of you guys had trouble with this on your 2.8's? Part Number for the fan?

I actually wasnt surprised when I heard about the fan causing issuesbecause I bought the car 5 months ago and I have always thought that my car sounds very loud and "fan-like" in first & second gears. So Pretty much the shop said because the clutch is out, the fan is running ALWAYS, even at high rpms, which will eventually cause it to brake. I am actually waiting to get this fixed so that I can really hear the V6 at its best!!! (I just need a catback exhaust....)

Hope you guys can help
