You should do a search on this as the topic has been covered many times.

But there should be a code that comes with the car's manual.
I don't know about the older models but for my 2001.5, it actually comes and attached to a booklet explaining the whole radio system. The code number is attached to a piece of paper and could be removed.

If you could not find the card/code, the dealership is where you should go next.

Hope that helps.

yea same thing happened to me.

look through the manual and look for the code. Its a 4 digit code.
when i bought the car, the previous owner gave me a little note with all previous maintenance receipts and stuff and within the notebook there was a 4 digit code, which was the radio code. so if you cant find it , i would ask the previous owner, or just take it to the dealer.

Typically it is in the smaller separate radio booklet of the manual set.

If you do not have the code call the dealer and ask them for it. All you need is a number on top of the radio (I believe it begins with YZ or something like that). They will give it to you. Make it seem like you will give them business, ask them what it costs to do a timing belt job and say you are looking to bring in the car soon and will call them back. Of course do not do that bc a shop will do it for less than half the price of the stealer. Search the forum and posts will tell you how to put in the code.

This worked for me.
