I was pushing the buttons on the dash display to set the clock and when I started the car back up the center computer screen in the dash cluster that displays radio info and temp disappeared. Is there a way to turn this back on or is my display bad?

 

It's a button on the same stock as the mode selector, on the bottom of it. Turns the display on and off.

 

Holy CRAP !!! [:-] I just though my display was out and I would have to replace the damn cluster. That button only says reset (and that is hard to see as it is anyway). I had no idea it actually turned the display on and off. TY soooooooo much for that little piece of info. It's back on now!

On another note, however.

1. My display has some lines that don't seem to work all that well.[:@] The screen is kind of garbled.

2. My Cruise Control does not turn on at all.

Are these related issues like a problem with the computer? Or is it 2 seperate things like the CC switch and then just the display going out and I need a new cluster anyway?

The same stock as the mode selector??? Is there a separate switch there or do I push/pull or rotate the shaft? I don't see a separate switch there.

 

seems like everyone has issues with the display cluster and lines.

 

its a button on the bottom of the stock....just push it. my car has the same problem with broken lines in the computer screen...i just keep mine turned off.

as for your cruise control, you have to push a button in on theLEFT stock, i dont thinka light comes up and says its engaged. just let your foot off the gas....

 

A lot of B5s have issues with cruise control. There are several possible causes (bad stalk is pretty common), but what fixed it for me was removing the module and re-wetting the joints on the circuit board with a heat gun. Okay, I didn't do that myself, I had it done. Try that before you spend any money on a new stalk.
