Exclamation ran into some problems

I was trying to replace the crankcase vent hose on the right side of my 1.8t. I am having trouble getting it seated in the hole correctly. Also is the c clamp supposed to go over the ridge on the hose. any advice. this is the piece in question

spray it with carb cleaner then install it before it evaporates, carb cleaner spay is a fantastic rubber lubricant.

it may still work, i have used it on those tubes before. i replaced that on a customers car a few months back and it fought me, the carb cleaner will lubricate it without damaging it like oil or grease will. hope it helps.

Make sure you have all of the old part removed first!

I like to use silicone spray for rubber lubricant.

Also make sure the old o-ring is out, I made that mistake and spent 15 extra minutes (hard to get to) trying to get it in when I had doh moment and realized it was in there.

I still think you have some old hose/o-ring left inside the hole. Double check , it is easy to overlook. Ask me how i know?

no the old o ring was no longer in the hole i know this because i took it out and was holding both the new and old o ring in my hand. the tube sent to me was bigger in diameter than needed. so if you try and put a bigger circle in a small circle= it wont fit.
