Default rear window issue

the two front windows work fine, and so does the sunroof. but my back two windows will not come back up. ive tried the driver's buttons and the back two on the doors. any ideas? both window regulators are fine and intact.

im assuming you have tried to roll them up using the rear doors also... and might want to check your connections to the switches. take the door panel off and see.

Open your back doors, take the door panels off, there are 2 screws on either side of the top of the door panel, one hidden in the door handle, then two behind it, look by the hinge...you'll see a black rubber boot, pull the rubber boot back, take the inside panel off, I bet you, you'll see your wires are broken....has happened to me on two different audis....look carefully, and beware, that the hose you see, is your vaccum hose for your door locks, be VERY careful IF you have to remove that to fix the wires......

oops, sorry, the door panels slide UP to remove...but if you've checked the regulators then you would know that....

update
all connectors are good. if i take the window motor off the regulator, plug it in, and move the motor as if i were rolling the window up, the motor spins fine. i then can re-attach and roll the window up, and then back down. to roll the window back up, i have to repeat the process. im stumped.

sorry for the delay. check the wires on the switches to make sure you have voltage on them...that is weird...also, check the 'lock' window switch on the driver's side door, sometimes they go bad...but it just sounds to me like you have a bad connection somewhere......but since it's both sides....and the wires are fine....hmmm...they all come together up front....underneath the steering wheel, behind/underneath the dash....

Default rear window fix

Not sure if this applies to the B5, but I just fixed a similar problem on a B6 (2003 1.8T). There is a green plastic shuttle piece that rides on the metal track, the part that holds the metal ferrule on the cable attached to the regulator breaks and lets go of the cable. Here is the B6 fix: https://www.audiforums.com/forum/sho...r+window+track
