Default rear wiper has me puzzled plzz help

hey how's it going everyone? My 1999 a4 avant has really got me puzzled. I got the car in november of 2010 an the rear wiper wasn't working but the rear washer jet was working. I checked all fuses an they all look good. I then replaced the rear wiper motor with an aftermarket unit an still its not working. This time the washer jet wouldn't work. I tested the terminals on the plug in the hatch with a multimeter an I'm getting a positive 12volts. I then pull off the relay panel an pull out relay number 389 which controls the front wiper an washer jets an I tested that which came out good. Now when looking at the relay plate second row I've got horn, load reduction, number 3 blank, fuel pump, front wiper?washer. My question is there suppose to be a relay in the third spot on a 1999 a4 avant? My repair manual has that spot blank aswell. I'm assuming only the avants have a rear wiper an I know they work on there own relay. Could someone point me in the right direction. I'm totally out of thoughts.

Sounds like you've got a good start to troubleshooting this one. I'm at work right now but when I get home this evening I can take a look at my relay panel for ya

Alright here's an update,I finally got the rear wiper to work after ordering a new #389 relay. Number 3 relay on plate #2 is suppose to be blank as pictured in my repair manual. Now all my wiper jets work execpt for the rear. I've got a new wiper motor in there so I know its not a clogged jet. I pulled the hose off the wiper motor an put hose in a bucket then closed my hatch an hit the switch for the washers which gave me no washer fluid in the bucket. The washer system worked before changing to a new motor. I then removed the new unit an replaced it with the old unit an the washer doesn't work. It makes no sense lol. Got wiper but no washer. I didn't see any leakage what so ever either.
