rebuild kit

rebuild kit
So i have my block apart, the cylinders honed, and I am taking my head into a shop to get valves and seats put in. I need to get pistons and such for the bottom end but the rods and crank are fine. what i really need now is a rebuild kit. Gaskets, bearings, the works. I have found them online but i dont really trust that as i want this to be a top notch rebuild. Any recommendations?

what do you need pistons for? they normally last longer then rods do. if everything is apart anyways it would be worth it to throw a $350 set of scat rods in there even if you dont have any big plans for the future.

My sparkplugs ate my pistons. everything else is prefect tho. cept for the bore but i spent uncountable hours honing them until their roundness and taper are all within .001"
and i may throw in the rods, depends on the pricing because i would much like to go up to 20mm wrist pins from the 19 is has. it will just depend on how much things wind up costing. i need a new turbo but mine will work for now. it has a crack in the fin sperating the hot side turbine from the wastegate valve

after you honed it all nicely did you redo the crosshatching on the walls? like this...

did you have to overbore it half a mm or was the diameter within spec still?
if you have everything apart and are replacing all the bearings and pistons anyways, upgrading rods wont cost you any more then the price of the rods themselves. it would be worthwhile to do it now while its all disassembled and have the headroom to slap on any turbo you wanted in the future.

and i have the cross hatches and everything just dandy, now i need to decide where i will be buying my parts form
