Default recovering door panel

Has anyone ever done a re-wrap job on this part of the door panel? Is it possible to remove only this section to re-wrap or does the entire panel have to come off?

thanks

So I'm quite interested in this as well. The fabric on my front doors is coming undone at the tops, and the fabric on the rear doors is floppy.
Google brought me some good info:

This Passat DIY is also pretty good, but obviously a little different (Passat vs A4):

No sir. That armrest piece is like melted together to the panel. I mean, you COULD break it off, but you'd have to superglue the sh*t out of it to put it back together. I just tried to do it as well, but I ended up taking the old leather off and tucking in the new stuff the best I could.
