Remove Lower Door Moldings
What he said^^ It's way easier to just tape it off and less likely to bust something.
I ordered new front side moldings from ecs and they should get here tomorrow, probably late. If I remember I'll try and take some pictures and do a little write up. You can probably get them at your dealer also but I think they want $50 a piece when ecs wants $30. The new ones don't use metal so they will never rust which is good.

I don't want to just tape it off as there is already some paint on there and I would like to do it correctly by sanding, prepping, etc. I'm pretty **** when it comes to paint. But I went out and ripped on that thing just now and it won't budge, let alone come off. I like how everyone seems to have problems with it falling off but when I want it to come off it won't...[:@]
I had the same problem
Tools: Vice Grips, philips scew driver, rag, patients
First off.. I recommend buying a few extra clips & screws for this job. I personally bougt 10extra clips, and 6 screws... Incase I broke somehitng, or lost a screw I didn't have to go looking under my car for it.
Removal:
Pull, pry, twist, bend, snap.. it should come off pretty easy (minus the 1 & only screw that stays behind)
Clamp the remaining screw from the outside of the door with vice grips, and remove it with the screw driver from the inside.
Installation: When I put on the firist moulding (front passenger) I was in a bit of a hurry and lined up the clips half-assed and just slid it on... and it got stuck... about a quarter inch off. It wasn't easy to get it out, I tried tappign it lightly with a hammer to push it on all the way, sitll no luck. I eventually with some good pulls got it off. Its worth it to remove any clip that looks remotely damaged or out of place, wipe everything down with a rag to make sure there's nothing left over behind the lips of the clips for the new mouldings to get caught on. Once I abided by my new rules, the installaiton went smoothly!
Good luck!

Those moldings suck. I bought my car with a damaged driver's molding and I've been dreading the replacement. I used to hate doing them at the dealer; every other B5 had a bad one and even more B6's had falling off door strips. For some reason, Audi and VeeDub have never really gotten the trim thing down to a science...
