Default Removing CD changer tray in trunk

2000 1.8T quattro 5sp ATW

Something fell behind the CD changer tray in my trunk and I need to remove this to get it.

I see two bolts on the left side but cant find any others.

You're gonna have to move the trunk side liner out of the way a bit. I believe there are also 2 screws hidden at the bottom of the tray. Could be more at the right side of the tray as well.

If necessary, to move the trunk side liner far enough out of the way, you'll probably need to remove the long black plastic trim that covers the lip where the latch goes. There are around 8 phillips-head screws that hold that trim on.
Once that black plastic trim is removed, there is a little cap also holding the trunk side liner to a taillight stud. That will pop off easily, then you can more-or-less yank the trunk side liner toward the middle of the car. There are a few tabs holding it but they will come undone.

This is exactly right, I had to remove my cd changer tray a while back and had to do all this. It's a pain to get to, so I'd try fishing out whatever fell back there first.

I got rid of that bracket, it weighs a ton! Just this past weekend I built a sealed box for my 8" JBL subwoofer which fits in that pocket beautifully.

Perfect thank you!

Didn't even have to remove the bracket, just had to pull the lining back after removing the plastic panel and there were my items.

Items eh? I also had some items fall down there at one point, I have a feeling they may have been the same kinds of items you dropped.
