Default resurface flywheel?

i just got my tranny out tonight and i took the flywheel planning to get it resurfaced at my friends cousins shop. it turns out the guy couldnt do it but he said it looked good enough to him that he would just clean it up a little and wouldnt bother resurfacing it. (also keep in mind hes a teacher at ITT and builds drag car engines so he knows what hes talking about) anyway i was thinking i might take it somewhere else to be resurfaced just in case but i wanted to see what you guys thought.

thanks

it can be resurfaced but it needs an adapter of some sort to hold the thing in place so the machine and resurface it. i'd get it resurfaced because buying a new one is dumb expensive and the stock fw usually last a while unless you beat on it like crazy

You should at least scuff it up a little because it's probably a little glazed. As long as there arent grooves in it and it's not all colors of the rainbow it should be alright. My stock fw at 170k was cooked beyond even considering resurfacing. There is also much debate over resurfacing a stock dual mass flywheel. I bought a brand new OEM Luk dmfw for $300.

Most shops wont resurface a DMF (dual mass flywheel). Heat spots are ok as long as it isn't grooved or obviously heat-damaged as stated. If it's a daily driver, put in a new clutch kit and reuse the flywheel without resurfacing it. Many of these cars see multiple clutches on the same flywheel.

If you're upgrading the clutch, spring for a lwfw if you can.

befor you dropped your transmission, was your clutch slipping?
I perosnaly perfer the dualmass flywheel over my lwfw.
