Yes i need new tires now so im looking at a tire/ rim buy on cl. Tires are bald and ones leaking. I cant lower it first though that will be the next thing i do. But as i asked before what kind of final offset is your goal on a lowered car say 2 inches?

An et of 35 is generally considered the sweet spot.

Depending on wheel width, that's correct. Typically, an 8" wide wheel of offset 35 or so will clear fine. Crazy backside spoke curvature will interfere with the brakes sometimes, but that's characteristic of individual wheels. And if you start looking at 9-9.5" wide wheels, a +35 may not work.

Yea I got stock ride height looking at 17x8 offset 35. Which you can see here : http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/pts/3005497490.html

I will also be eventually within the next month be grabbing some lowering springs. Probably 2 inch drop. So Im hoping it will all work out and look a lot better.

I got those rims. Is it ok to have different size tires in the rear than the front with awd?

as long as its within 3% rolling diameter
if your referring to staggered along as its close, its not the best idea but it shouldn't hurt

Depends on the profile. 235-?-17 and 215-?-17 is what we need to know.

215/45/17 and 235/40/17 would be okay.

OP, you may want to read some articles on tire rack.. How to read tire sizes, what offsets mean and how spacers effect things.
