for some reason my car rpm is bouncy and my dash lights are flashing.when i turn my defrost or headlight on it will stop.happens more on a rainy day.can you tell me whats wrong.i just got all the belts,coolant,thermostat,waterpump and o2 sensor done.

 

any help would do?is it a sensor?does it affect my transmission?it feels as if my car is sluggish while it shifts to the next gear?

 

it is probably your distributor(or distributor cap) or your spark plugs need replacing

 

audi's dont have distributors. and unless the CEL was on/flashing it wouldnt be because of the spark plugs.

well all i know is that i hav an old bmw (along with my audi) and it was doing the same thing. i replaced the spark plugs and it worked fine

 

sorry it is a 1996 a4 2.8 automatic has about 132k on it

what does 'bouncy' mean? be more specific like 'varying between 1200 and 600 rpms'. does it only happen in gear? only at idle?

what dash lights are on? the CEL? scan your codes and it will tell you exactly whats going on. a flashing check engine light means you are misfiring.

 

it bounces while im driving between 0 and 3.the oil light temp light n gas light flashes on and off.i got a code i think its p1611.whenever i turn my headlights and the defroster on it stops bouncing and lights stop flashing for awhile.
