Default S4 Spings on a 1996 A4 Q v6??

I have a 1996 a4 quattro 2.8 12 v. What year s4 srings and struts will fit my car. I have a set off a 2000 but not sure if they will work??? I would be putting the struts and springs off the s4 in mine. Also how much lower is the s4? I have a broken spring in the rear now so if they dont fit i need to get new ones, h&r with blisteins sport maybe??

I might be wrong about this but i'm sure since the cars weight different it prob wouldn't work but thats just something to think about.

B5 S4 springs should be fine with your 12v. Weight difference shouldn't be a problem since the S4 engine is 2.7l while yours is 2.8l. I do not think you will get too much lower at all with S4 suspension but you will feel a pretty big difference from what I have heard.

As long as its a b5 s4 you should be fine. i dont know how much lower the s4 sits exactly but the wheel gap is about an inch. weight between vehicles is couple hundred pounds off the top of my head so you should be fine.
I have the non-sport and i put s4 struts/springs in and love them(way cheaper than aftermarket, but obviously not as good) and like i said wheel gap is about an inch with some s4 wheels i picked up but thats me...

I have S4 springs on OEM A4 struts (non-sport), and the drop from the springs alone is about a finger width. Most of the drop from the S4 suspension is due to the lower height of the sport struts. Weight-wise, no worries. And the 96-01 models have interchangeable springs - as long as you use V6 (30v or 12v) quattro springs - the 1.8T springs aren't beefy enough for the added weight of the V6 and may wear prematurely or introduce you to your bumpstops on rough roads. FWIW, the ride quality and road manners of the S4 springs are great - definitely firmer than A4 springs, but not harsh in any way - it just makes the car feel more secure and planted, far better than the stock A4 springs. I love 'em.

So my s4 srings and shock are coming today, should i put just the srings on my stock 96 a4q shocks, or should i just do the entire s4 setup. I was going to do the whole s4 springs and shocks but a few people just did the springs, is there an avantange to just springs??? Wouldnt you want the whole setup so that the srings work with the shock valving. How long will the rear take, i've hadthe front out before not bad at all but never the rear, what need to be removed.....any shorcuts? Thanks for your help
Also do they need to be indexed at all in the front and rear??

No advantage that i could think of, maybe cuz those people havent bought struts???
i did the whole setup in 4 hours and was drinking beer. The back was pretty quick the only trouble was the front lower strut mounting bolt. You have to take the old struts out anyway if you wanted to do springs only so you might as well finish it up while you got her off the ground but thats me...
