So! my car's radio is on safe mode, the guy i bought the car from is looking for the radio card.... The barrier audi is charging me $35 and it will take an hour for them to unlock it.. any other way to get my code????

NEGATIVE! I worked at a dealership and service writers use to have access to that but now the techs are the only ones that can look it up, they have to pull ur radio out and get a code off the back and get the code off line. but once you have the code you have it. if its not written down in your owners manual then they have to do it. it usually doesnt take an hour, its just protocal to tell the customer it will take an hour that way if another car comes in and needs to be done asap ur car can be put to the back burner. sorry buddy, but hey 35 aint bad. My dealership charged a half hour which was like 58 bucks.

 

Why is it that way? Our shop gets radio codes from the dealer all the time! Usually for BMW or VW but I would think it would be a similar story.

 

Jump @ $35, heard of dealers charging a lot more than that, and it's your only option if the previous owner doesn't come through.
