Secondary air pump (can you fix it?)
Apologies if there is an existing thread. I looked but didn't see anything. I have a 98 a4 30v Q manual 232K. Finally trying to get that elusive emissions sticker.
I saw a thread somewhere ... where a guy rebuilt his sec air pump, replacing the bearings, etc. I removed mine tonight but there doesn't seem to be a way to disassemble it. It has no nut on the end of the shaft, just a cove shaped (nut?). Perhaps I can't take it apart.
Any experience with this?
Thank you in advance!

OP, what's wrong with your pump? If the motor's good you can get away with just replacing those long rivets with nuts and bolts, that's the number 1 cause of SAI pump codes. The rivets break and air leaks out, throwing a code.

yea ... that
Thanks for the replies, esp. jeckel. Couldn't figure out the motor locks, thanks! Anyway, the motor still goes from the battery. The rest of the pump is in pretty miserable shape. Impellers are messed up and the axle looks like it has been beaten out before ... perhaps already rebuilt? So I think I'll replace it. I think I rebuilt my turn signal/multi-switch twice before I was like ugh I'll just pay the gd money. Again, thanks for the feedback. Very appreciative.
