Default sensor on top half of air box

Damn, cant find this anywhere

What is the sensor that is mounted on the top half of the air box, (98 a4 b5)

I know the MAF is inside, it sorta looks like a MAP or a IAC, but i thought i would ask.

Let me know, Thanks

You're either looking at the N80 valve for the evaporative emissions system, or the power output stage for the ignition, also known as the ICM (ignition control module)
Neither of which is a sensor. If its the N80 valve it will have hoses attached to it, the ICM just has wires.

You can relocate it anywhere, as long as the wires reach. However, you should have a heatsink on it. You may have noticed the heatsink on top of the airbox that the ICM mounts to. That heatsink actually gets cool air flowing across it, so it is very effective. I used an old CPU heatsink on my ICM when I got rid of the top of my airbox.
