Question Short Shifters...ANY AND ALL!

hate the feel of the stock shifter. I want to know what everyone is using. Please respond with pictures and your take of the shifter+install. I am looking for a shifter that is low and short. Shortest i have seen has been one that has just been cut down. I do not want to do this. That is why i am posting this. This is for a B5 2001 audi a4 1.8t 5spd. Thanks in advance!

i got a B&M one off of ebay for like 90$ definately worth the money. my buddy had a cheap ebay shifter in his SS and he said that it broke when he was shifting hard into 3rd after a couple weeks. not very hard to install, pretty straight forward, i think check audidiy.com for installation

Best short shifter on the market is the JHM shifter and is worth every penny. The JHM SS can also be ordered with a shaft that is 1" shorter for $5 extra. If you want one I can offer you a small forum discount.

JHM kit includes
New JHM Steel shaft
JHM solid pivot assembly
Tig Welded Steel lower link
Delrin Bushings
New hardware
Free tube of synthetic grease

They now offer a very nice weighted shift **** in Aluminum or Delrin which can be ordered with different options. Discounts for package deals.

i have an ebay ss. love it. if i remember correctly it was around 35 dollars? pretty straight forward install. couple of tricky spots but overall easy.
i've had NO problems with this kit, and its a mod that is well worth doing! you'll enjoy it everytime you drive!

heres some pictures or height, look etc..

hope this helps!!

after a few months of having this, the shift boot kinda sunk in, since the shifter was shorter. so i pulled out the boot and pulled down the leather to make it a little tighter, dont have any pictures of this but it was easy to do.

What? You guys don't like 3 feet of throw in your shifts or something?

The stick can only be so short. The shift box/linkage housing is pretty shallow so you can only get up to something like 30% shorter than stock. Anything more will be need to be taken off from the top.
