My airbag light has been on for while now, and need to turn it off to get it inspected. Took the car to the dealer, they want $553 to put a new sensor in (part included). This is in a 98 A4 Quattro 2.8 driver side airbag crash sensor G179, car has a code of 1221. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? I was told the sensor was in the pillar by the drivers seat, however cannot find it, and it looks like the dealer is the only place that sells the part, cant even find it on ebay. Any insight is greatly appreciated, don't have any idea where to go from here.

 

i'd buy one from somebody parting their car. eff the dealership
