Default Some Repairs

I bought my 12v about 3 months ago, loved it, it started needing work done to it, and i tried selling it to get rid of the problems, the lady backed out on me, and now im going to slowly fix it up myself and try to sell it then, or just keep it. I need a new tensioner pully and belt (rattles when i accelerate hard and smokes if i downshift to much), and the check engine light is on due to the EGR valve, that needs to be replaced or cleaned? And i was passing acouple cars the other day and blew a hole in the exhaust, After jacking it up noticed that its all rusted out, except for the muffler, which seems to be in good condition. So my question is any imput on fixing those myself, im not to great with a wrench, but want to learn and want to save money, and where could i find the pipes for the exhaust to replace that, or would i be better off just getting a whole new system. Thanks.

if your car is smoking....you either have a bad valve cover gasket and oil is hitting your exhaust mani...or you may have a bad head gasket (which will cause alot of smoke and kill power)

besides that....if you need to do your tensioner, you should prolly do the H20 pump and timming belt at the same time

as far as exhaust...go custom 2.5" piping to a 1400 series magnaflow muffler....

besides that, i would suggest taking it to a local audi/vw mechanic and have the whole car looked over....you will then have a better Idea of what all needs to be done....

well, gl!

yeah ive taken it to a few mechanics and thats what they told me, also the inner boot on the drivers side is cracked, but not to bad, its also leaking some fluids, and it hink the oil on the mani coudl be right, but im not really sure how to fix that, and the timing belt and h20 pump were fixed in the last 10k by the previous owner, so i think img just gonna do the exhaust, pully and egr valve and call it good, for now..thanks
