Default Someone heard of this craziness?

okay so im sure you know that i have had this crazy starting problem with my car lately and cant get it resolved. CVBADASS also had this problem but fixed it by changing his ecu relay #30... so i went and bought the relay and when i went to replace it i have relay #429 in its place. So i called up the stealership and they said "that relay is only for an a6 and the correct one is # 30". So i put in relay # 30 and my car wont start at all with that relay. does anyone know anything about this?

Your car is really an A6. That's all I can think of.

I feel your pain! The dealership told me to replace my ignition switch, and if that wasn't the problem, then it would be the relay. I did change the ignition, but that wasn't my problem, it was the relay. Maybe for you it would be the ignition switch.

Have you fixed your starting problem yet? I have the same deal going on (no relay #30) and I've changed... The Mass Airflow sensor, coolant temp sensor, spark plugs, all filters and my fuel press is good.

You could try the ignition switch.

Something I found out that narrows my search (I think) to a sensor.... When I had the Mass airflow sensor unplugged I started the car and it fired right up. so I'm thinking when the ECU uses a default fuel air mixture it works. give it a try on yours and see what happens. I was thinking the ignition switch but it fires right off 100% of the time if its been started within the last few hours.

Yeah just buy an A4 logo from the dealer, that should do it.
