So, heres the question.

If one was to engine swap their B5, what engines could be legally used for the swap?

Also, RS4 engine into a B5....possible?

Honestly, any engines available to the US market would be fine as long as there are paper works.

Anything can be done with decent amount of work. There's a thread somewhere here where someone swapped a V8 engine into a B5 A4.

You should come out to a local GTG sometime!

I was under the impression there were limits to what motors you can swap into a given car and be able to legally run it on the street. Although i suppose if you did a good enough job, no one would know the difference anyway, 'cept maybe the guy doing the smog inspection?

I had no idea there were restrictions on motor swaps...maybe thats just a cali thing.

there are no restrictions that i know of, you just need proper documentation... like going to the highway patrol and the dmv

and what motor to swap in is dependent on what you want out of the car and your budget
