And according to about almost all the manufacters, the 2.8 has about 200hp as well after it's chipped...for half the cost of a 1.8t tune. So I don't see what the big arguement is.

He's already got an intake and exhaust (not sure if it's only the muffler or if it's the piping too)
I'll probably chip mine just to raise the rev limiter.
what manufacturers are you talking about? for the 2.8, 2 people make chips, GIAC and Speedtuning. GIAC advertises a 4-8hp gain and i doubt speedtuning does any better and of course there's no dyno proof to back anything up. GIAC is expensive and speedtuning is the same price as their 1.8t tune, so i dont know where you got half the price from.

and the difference between the 1.8t and 2.8 tunes is that with the 1.8t you see a ~40hp gain whereas with the 2.8 chip you'd be lucky to see 8-10. which is why most people say its a waste of money. you wanna spend it, go ahead, but i wouldn't.

i like my speed tuning flash, but for you i would just save them money, 8hp for $150 is hardly worth it. but like chaos said if you want it don't let anyone tell you not to, its your car and you have to drive it.

Save your $150 son. Put it towards a supercharger kit and you'll see more than 8-10chp. Every penny counts when you're going for that kind of a goal

Do the chip! You're limited to what mods you can do so take advantage of every one!

dude y does everyone try to knock 2.8 v6 when it has 190 hp and then when someone modds a 1.8 4 bannger to have 170 hp their flipping out???
im not trying to start im just trying to make mine a little better than others just like everyone else and for some reason everytime i have a question about a 2.8 people got something to say and i just dont get it some people dnt like 4 bangers and some do im not trying to get 300 hp im just doin a lil thats it.[/size]
clearly not looking for a supercharger, and most likely hes a big boy and can read prices and make his own desisions so you dont really need to tell someone who you prob dont know how to spend their money. Go for the chip every bit counts when us 2.8s are so limited to mods! I hear the GIAC tip chip makes a noticeable difference too.

I wasnt trying to start anything either, im trying to help you and im saying that a chip is a waste of money and just put into an intake or exhaust or something. by the way, a 1.8t has about 200hp after a chip
Back from the dead or not, I love how you should save money for an intake which has amazing power gains [sm=smiley21.gif]
