Angry Starter removall question.

What up

Quick simple question. Searched but no answers to the question even people with the same ? I fried my starter because my ignition switch got stuck in the on possition. Im trying to remove the starter and have all the connections removed and the two bolts out. i cant seem to get the nose of the starter out of the trans enough to then slide it back out. It seems the alternator is in the way. Just wondering if i have to remove the alt. to get the starter out, which I hope I dont? or is there something im missing? Sorry for the newb question. Just frustraited. thanks

if you have the v6 engine, you just take the alternator out. if you have the 4 cylinder engine, you need to move the A/C compressor from it's place

Yea i have the 2.8 I should have specified... and to take the alternator off i have to take the front end off? ex. headlights/ bumper/ ect? or can i do it without putting it in the "service possition"?

Its way easier to just put it in service position, it only takes about 30 minutes to do and will save you more time in the long run. What i usually do is let the carrier sit on one of the longer bumper beam bolts, take out one of the large green allan bolts on either side of the radiator and insert the bumper beam bolt on either side. That way it will slide in and out on that bolt, instead of hanging by the radiator hoses.
