Default Strange request for my B5 brethren...

So...I dropped my fuel tank last summer to do the fuel filter and now it looks like my fuel filler neck is separating from behind the fuel filler door. I know I tightened up the straps afterwards but it doesn't look right to me. Can anyone pop open their fuel door and remove their fuel cap and take a nice close up pic for me.

I will gladly say a prayer to the B5 gods for your assistance

Thanks guys. It does look like mine sits lower. I think I need to do some exploratory surgery...

I'd say something did come off somehow - I've dropped my tank to do the filter too and it didn't mess this up. Did you completely lower it or just lever down the front of it to do the filter? I lust levered it down and it didn't affect the filler neck.

Default Loosened the straps....

I loosened the straps quite a bit to drop the front of the tank for a little more access. I remember tightening the straps back up but something doesn't look right. If I have time today I'll get a pic of mine to show you guys. This winter has been so hard on my 18 year old baby.....I've got a laundry list of repairs and maintenance to do this spring. So much that I've been checking the classifieds for a new DD but I don't think I'm ready to pull the trigger on any of em....

Just spot weld it back together. lol. J/K Please don't do that! (standard disclaimer).

I've been there before w. a 25 Gal. tank....twice, so I feel you.

Be careful w/that **** and let us know how it turns out.

I doubt a gap would cause running issues, it could make the gas tank not pressurized as much as normal but I doubt it's anything significant. Are you having running issues?

Default Not much really...

The idle gets a little choppy sometimes but nothing too serious. I believe my wires are from almost two decades ago so I'm attributing my idle to those...I'm getting under there this weekend to check the straps and try to re-attach the fuel filler.

Thanks to everyone.
