Default Sunroof question -Year model interchange

I'm at a breakers yard. Does anyone know if a sunroof from a 2000 A4 Avant is the same as a 1999 A4 sedan??

I'm not 100% sure but from personal experience at a junk yard, a sunroof off a VW wagon looks to fit a 1999 A4 (same window dimensions and the bracket looks the same). I would guess the 2000 avant sunroof would fit a 1999 sedan. Don't take that as 100% though. If you're trying to fix your sunroof from not closing all the way, a junkyard will probably not be a good option as most of the guide tracks have already broken (also from personal experience looking at 4 different sunroofs from yards).

Thanks. For $35 including the glass, I think I'll take the chance.

Yeah I paid $40 for mine. If I were you, I would slide it through the trunk and hold it up to the controller, plug it in, and see if it works. Taking the sunroof out requires taking down pillars and the ceiling which can be difficult to reassemble.

If it doesn't work, check this out http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-...r/Body/ES3225/ and let us know how easy it is. I plan on doing this in December

+1 on the Passats, Golfs, similar model WV's in general

Same topic different question. My sunroof works but when I twist the **** to close it, it seems to stop when I close it all the way. Sunroof works fine when I close it with the Keyfob. My question is, Where can I find a replacement Turn ****? I am pretty sure thats the reason why it just stops.

Not sure exactly what you mean. ECS has this but they are way too expensive.... http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-...earch/Sunroof/

I would get to a junkyard and pick up the whole unit. ECS is normally good for pricing but you can get an entire sunroof for about $40.

It may be related to the randomly opening problem and hasn't reached that yet but I'm not sure. This may be of use to you before you drop cash on a new switch

If you don't find what you're looking for, let me know, but best bet is cleaning the switch on the thread from passatworld and then searching a junkyard

Mine works perfectly...it just leaks. Mine is missing at "rain guard" at the rear of the glass. Every time I hit the brakes in the rain, the water runs forward and comes into the car. I'm WAY over getting wet on my way to work!

I'll definitely make sure it works before I install it. Hopefully it'll be fine. This came from a flood car, but evidence showed that water never made it past the seats. The roof was very clean compared to the seats.
