Default Suspension Lift

New Audi owner! Just bought a 1999 A4 Avant 1.8T Quattro w/5 speed manual trans. Neat little car, almost perfect for my needs so far.

Seems like suspension modification trends lean towards lowering the car. I'm hoping to go the other way and try to raise it a small bit. I'm not talking anything extreme, just 0.5" to 1" higher than factory, enough to maybe fit slightly taller tires (and thereby gain another 0.25" of ground clearance in the process).

Are there any suspension kits available for this? If not, any known methods to accomplish the task? Google has been no help, showing me nothing but lowering kits.

Is the speedometer adjustable to accommodate larger tires? (either via VAG-COM or otherwise)

Will the axles handle the extra angle without suffering too much? Seems like if they can handle a 2" drop, they should be able to handle a 0.5" to 1" lift.

I'm not looking for offroad worthiness or extreme articulation, just a bit more ground clearance for our very rural area. I've already felt the undercarriage scrape the ground more often than I'd like.

Welcome! You can lift your car, most coilover suspension kits allow the car to be raised or lowered. Raising shouldn't be a problem, but you may wish to get an alignment afterwards to ensure your suspension geometry is adequate.

We can't accommodate them through the speedometer/odometer. But other than that there shouldn't be any harm to your car.
