Default swap in the 2.7t?

Can the 2.7t be swapped into the 4cyl Audi a4? If so what all will it take?

What if you have a V6 model? Will that make it easier? I am asking because there is a wrecked S4 at the parts yard and I could buy it potentially getting EVERYTHING and going from there. The 2.7t really is the way to go with my goals and still being a DD.

Do a quick search, this has been done but like bones said its not exactly drop-in. Sounds from your other threads like you have some mechanical ability and experience, so if you can get a complete donor car on the cheap and have lots of time, you should be able to pull it off.

I can get rear end car for $2500 with 85k and maintenace logs. I think I am going to stick with the 1.8t though. I like the mpg and it has potential but still the thought crossed my mid. I would think the 1.8t would give the car a better driving feel with less front end weight. The 2.7t would also give better turbo response, better low end, and overall more performance value when all things considered.

Back to the 1.8t for me, I am going to adapt the K04 I have and enjoy it while building me another block for an EFR turbo. I have to make my mind up tough on which EFR. The 6258 or 6758......

Yeah I am liking that idea with the 2.0 liter. I noticed the RAI motorsports has used CAST 2.0 cranks for $250 and coupled with forged rods and pistons I should be looking at stout setup when mated too the 6758 OR the 6258. The 2.0 has me worried on 2 things though.

First has to do with piston speed. I plan on revving this setup too 7500 in daily fashion and I want to keep my piston speed in check especially considering the somewhat less favorable rod stroke ratio (however a lower rod/stroke ratio is better fo dealing with detonation),

Second how well will the 1.8 head be able to handle the extra displacement when pushed those extra 1000 RPM's? I am not afraid of a port cleanup but a real performance PnP is not my forte.

I honestly think the head will be OK BUT the timing belt really scares me since I have not seen a AEB Kevlar setup like what is availible for the motors.

WHat is sad is that with the ext of Mods I have planned I would most likely be able to buy a S4 and do some tasteful mods which would put it in the 350whp+ range and have the nicer interior, brakes, trans, etc... I really, Really, REALLY like the idea of S4 with a big single; say the precision SC62 with ported comp housing that I already have....

Rai has a kevlar set up. its a sticky in the b5 forum

I think your going to need the 2l, your going to hit a wall. TRhe 2l will help spool a bit but may not be as rev happy. Lightweight pistons and rods will help. I think the 1.8 head is pretty limited but at 7500 it shouldn't be a problem. If it blows then you get to build it for 8 or 9 right If you search the classifieds you can snag a 2.0l crank really cheap, its just oem audi out of a B6.

You live around here? Baltimore i mean?

I have a 2.7tt motor and brakes i can help you out with. I was plannign single turbo( thats the only way the s4 motor makes sense to me) but I have a better idea. Still up in the air about.

034 just finished development on a single turbo kit for S4's and 30v 2.8L A4's. Check this thread out:

Single Turbo on your 2.8L 30v V6?
