I have been looking around at doing an airbox mod and came across the
"swiss cheese" mod. What are the benefits of this mod? Is it worth doing? I have a 2001 a4 1.tqm. I was also thinking what if i just made two holes and ran some tubing from the grill or lower foglight area to the airbox.

 

I did it on my 98 and noticed a diffrence in performance and sound, The DV is alot louder and sounds better too. I drilled a bunch of holes in the box and fender well and covered it with screen to trap any water, so far no problems. From what I read theres not really any diffrence between swiss cheese box and aftermarket intake except the looks.
