I'm a little confused about the different coding options for the Symphony head unit.

According to what I've found, 00004 should mean all active speakers and non-Bose (and presence of a CD changer with secondary display, but that's irrelevant for my purposes). I assume "all active speakers" means that all outputs are line level outputs. But I can still hear my front speakers fine when I use this coding, which tells me they're still amped by the head unit.

However if I set the coding to 00014, then I can no longer hear my front speakers, which is what I would expect. However this sets the head unit to Bose mode, and I do no have a Bose system.

Does this mean that some options in the 3rd digit are not recognized unless the 4th digit is set to 1?

I'm just trying to figure out how to get all 4 outputs to line level in anticipation of a custom sound system.

It didn't really clarify why 00004 didn't work and 00014 did.

 

Most likely it won't do line level for all speakers unless it's coded to be a bose. I don't see the issue there though, just code it as a bose and you'll get the line level outputs and a better hidden equalizer IIRC. Those are basically the only differences between normal and bose coding.

 

Makes sense, I guess. Would probably be better for the custom sound system I have in mind anyways.
