Default Tailpipe is profusely smoking with white smoke??

I bought this car about like 2 weeks ago, and I knew it need a new pump. On the way back from ride from his house, my buddy that drove me was behind me and he started flashing his lights and there was nothing but a HUGE cloud of white smoke. So I pulled into the gas station that happened to be right there, and I got it towed home. I drop the subframe and pan and replaced the pump. Put everything back together and the white smoke is still pouring out of the exhaust but I haven't had it on more than 15 seconds because I get nervous seeing that much smoke. People told me head gasket or turbo. The turbo was replaced 25,000 miles ago and nothing pops up on my dash about it or I don't hear it whining or anything and I also checked my anti freeze and there's no oil in it. The smoke has a slight smell of oil, no liquids coming out of the tail pipe. And I also just put in 4 liters of oil after I put the pan on because I read that was the capacity but then .. I pull up my car and I check the oil stick and it's dry ... There's no where the oil could of gone because there's absolutely not a single drop on the floor? Should I keep running my car and hopefully i just have to burn the rest of the oil out of the manifold?

What new pump?, New oil pump and you drove it home? What year car and what engine and transmission does the car have?

White smoke is usually water in the combustion chamber, blue smoke is oil, and black smoke is to much gas (running very rich). Does or did the car run hot before this white smoke appeared? Note that if the air temperature is low you will get some water vapor (white smoke) out of the exhaust when you first start the car but it shouldn't be enough to be described as pouring out. Looks like its time to do a compression check ad/or a leakdown check on your cylinders to see if its a head gasket.

Keep adding oil till the level shows on the dip stick between full and add lines on the stick.

Thanks for the reply, and No I brought it home knowing that it needed a new oil pump the guy said it wasn't pushing enough psi's or whatever but he said it probably be fine driving home but 15 mins down the road white smoke started pouring out the tail pipe enough to fill the entire gas station of smoke. When I opened the oil cap smoke was coming out there too but very slightly. And also it had like a clicking noice by the headers of the car. Or manifold? Not to sure. But I moved the car up my driver way and it drove perfect fine. It's a 2001 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8 turbo. And another thing is when I put my dip stick in and pull it out it's completely dry, I just put brand new oil in, and there's not a single drop of where the oil couldn't of gone on the ground or underneath my car

Is this your first 1.8L engine? 4L is the proper amount of oil to put in with out changing the filter, 4.3L is about right with a standard oil filter replacement, and 4.5L is about right with a larger oil filter replacement.

Is this an Automatic transmissioned car? Are you sure theres no oil on the dip stick and its not actually overfilled? When you drained the oil, did you remove a bolt with a 15mm head from the passenger side of a silver pan just forward of the front axles, or a plug with a 17mm allen head from the bottom of a black oil pan a little behind the front axles? Silver pan is the engine oil, Black pan is the transmission pan. Wouldn't be the first person to drain the transmission and then overfill the engine with oil. Proper oil level is between those two orange plastic tabs on the bottom of the dip stick.

Still think you're looking at a head gasket for clouds of white smoke.

It's an automatic transmission and it I put 4 L of castrol synthetic oil and it did the silver pan; and the pump was under the oil pan and I had to drain the oil. But I'm hearing a little rattling by my turbo I think the oil is just burning profusely out of the seals of the turbo I'm not sure
