Tapping sound
Hi - I have an A4 (my 1999) which has just had a full service by an Audi specialist. The compression was perfect but I'm now getting a distinct tapping at the top of the engine (right hand side as you look at the engine from the front).
Any ideas?

possibly just a check valve...which is normal....hard to diagnose without being able to hear it....
could also be valve tap...which is pretty common....
do you have a 1.8 or a 2.8?

Hi - 2.4 (sorry, I should've added that).
The sound's a clack clack clack (ie not metal on metal) from the top and is irregular (ie not continuously in one spot or in a rythm).
