The sport cloth is what's really got me going too

I offered $1500, the suspense is killing me!

Some of you don't know my A4 is front trac and tip. Getting this car would be an upgrade in those respects.

Cool man. I'm just waiting to hear back from him on my $1500 offer. I think he went to sleep though

Wifey is cool with it, so it's a go if the seller accepts the offer. I know that even at $2200, it's a decent deal, but I'm looking for an outright STEAL

Hopefully in the near future you'll be getting bombarded with tranny disassembly questions from me

My uncle owns a dealership nearby over in Minneapolis MN an has a good audi/volks connection and he gets cars like that from time to time( High mileage in need of semi-repairs) and he would take that at car at that price. Worst case you spend a G right away to fix it. Now you sitting at 2500. if everything else checks out good and it never hurts to double over everything cuz obviously you dont wanna dump too much more, you will be getting a good deal in my opinion...

Last week he sold a 99 1.8TQ with 176xxx that he paid 1600 for, spent $700 putting a rear wheel bearing, new rubber, and rear brakes and retailed it for 5999.

PS not all of us are lucky enough to live in cheap car areas( Texas, Florida)

thats my 2cents...

I'll be surprised if the CEL isn't on if/when I get the chance to see it in person. Hopefuly at that mileage things like control arms/tie rods/ICM/coil packs/maf/cat/bearings/02 sensors, etc. have been replaced. The serious wheel gap suggests the suspension is not stock. Those wheels don't look stock, maybe it's the tires that make the wheel gap so huge. The bumper retaining tab is obviously broken like w/mine.

That is one hell of a deal. You could make it a beast for basically what it would cost to make it a reliable DD again (building the engine and tranny, not BT upgrade). Plus it being a AEB car, That is tons of money in upgrades already. If i was still in OH and had any money, my *** would go buy it and stop modding the TT :P

It's mine!

Ended up being $1700, he wouldn't budge, but I tried my hardest. It's still a great deal. I was slightly disappointed to find out that after I started the engine, it sounds better than mine. It actually has 172k on the clock. My jaw was almost on the floor after hearing this thing run/rev.

The bad:
Passanger side cv boot is torn/missing
Valve cover gasket is bad
Tires are almost bald w/aftermarket 17's that are in ok shape. Maybe they will get painted...
A few annoying dings and scratches, nothing major
ALTEZA'S!!!!
Bumper clip is either broken, or wasnt hooked back on right
Needs belts, including timing
CEL is on with evap fault and throttle valve fault. Idles fine.
Need radio code

The good:
Started up right away
AEB!
QUATTRO!
MANUAL!
Stock tails are in the trunk
All 4 wheel bearings are new
Records for the last 70k miles w/ontime oil changes
Drivers side cv/axle was replaced recently
ICM replaced recently
Sport cloth seats are in great shape front/back
Front pads recently replaced
tie rod ends replaced.
AC works
Heat works

So, it goes into gear. Nothing happens when I let out in 1st/2nd gear. When it's in 3rd and 4th, I hear chatter when engaging the clutch, but the car doesnt even try to move. Clutch pedal feels normal. He's saying it's on the original clutch. Any more ideas on that?

Once it's on the road, I'll be surprised if the control arms arent noisy.

I am REALLY loving the interior with the black trim and seats. I've always liked the red dash lights as opposed to the 00+ face lift white dash lights.

It's getting flat beded to my house as we speak, so I'll post pics when it gets here. She's a real fixer upper.... Can't wait!

Hypothetical... If the input shaft on the tranny is broken, woud it cause these symptoms? I pretty much asked him 10 different ways about what happend, when, how, etc. He hinted at doing dounuts/clutch drops, etc, jokingly. Is it possible that the input shaft could have snapped due to that kind of abuse?
