Default Terrible Noise While Driving

There's a terrible grinding or metal on metal noise when driving, it's especially bad when turning.

Planning to call the mechanic tomorrow and flatbed it over, but just wondering what to expect.

Hmmm, well when turning I would suspect your controls arms are shot but it also could be bearings. Either way it's common. I imagine though you heard something over time and then get worse or???

No, I only noticed it today. I don't typically listen to the radio too loud and with the nice weather in Boston this weekend, I was driving around with the windows open.

could be your brakes or wheel bearings.

I heard a metal against metal noise too, but mostly when turning a few weeks ago. It was the power steering pump, which I had replaced. It was back to normal again for about two weeks but the noise is back again so it's at the mechanic.. I'll let you know what they say it is, 'cause I may have the same issue as you.

if it's a wheel bearing, it will get much, much louder very soon. see if you can narrow it down to just one corner, then jack up that wheel and see if you can wiggle it back and forth. rotate the wheel too. if it's jerky and you feel a grinding, you know it's a wheel bearing. it should be a smooth rotation otherwise.

do you hear the grinding when turning both left and right? if it's a wheel bearing, it will only get louder when you turn in one direction.

You could have shot control arm bushings like I do, does the noise occur when you are stationary and turn the wheel?
