Default Test drove 99 A4, Is this normal?

Need help trying to figure out whats been done to this A4 I test drove yesterday. Its a 99 A4 Avant with 67k on it. Looks great but has had a bigger turbo or ECU upgrade done. Its very aggresive from low RPM's with a notable turbo whine. Most of the power is in the low to mid range. The main issue is if I am barely accelerating the turbo starts to spool up so I let off the gas and it jerks me forward like I just made a hard downshift.

What do you think has been done to this? I dont want to get into a car that may be tuned incorrectly. The body has no dents, the interior is perfect and it has nice, new ExtremeContact tires on it.

Help me out please. I had my 07 A4 with an APR ECU tune and it was extremely tame and controlled compared to this.

Thank you,

Derek

Thats very weird. Does it feel like drivetrain shock? If the drivetrain mounts are bad then you could be feeling the whole thing "lunge" when you let off the throttle.

Its only when the turbo is just beginning to spool up on mild acceleration. Its very odd. If I floor it and let off its fine. I dont get it. My gut is telling me to look elsewhere but its hard when the car is like new on the inside and has zero dents and has only 67k on it.

Is it manual transmission? If so, does it happen the same in all gears?
