Default Thinkin Turbo Upgrade?

OK, so I need people's opinions. I am thinking about upgrading my turbo and getting the GT2871R eliminator kit. My car is a 1997 A4 1.8t but it's automatic and I just hit 106k miles. Stock everything and don't want to upgrade internals, is it worth it? Honest opinions... Also, if anyone knows if this setup is safe to run, with stock injectors and ecu (will eventually change but for meanwhile)?

stock injectors? no
stock ECU? absolutely not

it would be worth it, but DO NOT put the turbo on without the rest of the supporting mods that it needs to run if you like your engine being not exploded. you also will need a FMIC, and whatever MAF and FPR the tune calls for. you can get away with that turbo without doing rods though.

I think that turbo put out to much for your transmission. You would need to get a valve body upgrade through levelten.com .

the trans will hold it, a manual would be better of course, but there are people running larger turbos on a stock auto trans.

Goto the ***Modifications & Maintenance*** Sticky in the B5 section and click on the 1.8t turbo upgrade link. It is far from as simple as swapping the turbos.

The car will be very slow when pulling from a stop in 1st gear since the turbo spools up much later. If you want to just swap the turbo, just drop a K04 in which will give you a bit more tq/hp over the stock K03 that came with your 97.

If you dont mind the slow 1st gear then get the correct fueling/tuning for the elim kit before installing it. We offer package setups with Uni tuning and the correct fueling.
