Thinkin of the Future got me thinkin'
So lets say in the distant future, i'm out of school, and making around 60k a year. i've already got my b5 paid off as we speak, and the only maintance is upkeep. what i'm thinking is when i get out of college, provided the head with 131k miles on it holds up till after college, buy a small commuter car and just never sell the b5, maby keep it in the garage for a purely track car...
this got me thinkin about upgrades of course, and what i could do with no smog controls. Obvesouly stage 3 came to mind, as did many other bt swaps.
then i caught a thought in the shower, seeing as i have a pre facelift b5, wouldnt it be cool to swap the engine to a 2.7t. granted, yes it would be expensive, and i would be better off just selling it and getting an s4... but wait a minute, wouldent it be cool to have the only pre 2000 s4?
this again got me thinking, why not just bring over a whole drivetrain, excluding the rear end. why not just bring the whole engine and 6 speed. so not only would i have the only pre 2000 s4, i would have the only pre 2000 with a 6spd. of, course i'd would probally have to run a standalone, seeing how the ecu would't work in the pre 00's
i kno, its impractical, but it could work, and it would be REALLY cool, you gotta admit... assuming i'm making 60k out of college...
flame me if you want, but its an intresting idea...

im feeling this idea man. WATSUP DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss you man. u going to the homecoming game? when are we gonna chill. well, judigng that we haven't talked cars in awhile (I'm yearning for it), any other mods. hopefully, if I do well in school, I'm thinkin about a body kit (oettinger or rieger).
if i was doing that...i would still make it streetable and make the outside look completly stock with the s4 equipment on the inside..thats would be one sick a$$ sleeper car..
or just buy an s4 and put the a4 trim stuff on it haha

Not gonna flame ya hardcore... but 60k/yr isnt THAT much today. Its hella more than you're used to making I'm sure... but figure you're outta college, so ur paying ur own bills (insurance/ food/ gas/ rent or mortgage/ etc...). Have fun w/ the ride... but be smart w/ ur $$$ right outta college. Start an IRA, 401k and get some property. I'm a Banker at a LARGE bank and the guys I see who are the most well off are the ones who put those things first. And I dont mean to sound like a parent... but its sad when I see a 23yr old guy come in asking me to get a $50k loan to buy a '99 Viper. (payment is $1300/mo. no joke.)
I'd recommend: work ur *** off for a yr and if you did a good job, reward urself w/ a BT upgrade

$60k isn't much per year anymore? Where the hell are you from? Other than California, $60k per year isn't too shabby. Especially for someone straight out of college.
yea, outta college its pretty good... im studying engineering and the average salary in the first year of engineering out of college was like 56k a year for computer eng. im in mech. eng. which the average was around 50k...
just a hypothetical situation, all that 401k and real estate would come first, but when i get around to rewarding myself, i think this is how im gonna do it...
in tearms of making it streetable i'd prolly go with the rs4 turbo swaps, to make it a 98 rs4...
