Default Thinking about lowering...Ideas needed

So I'm thinking about lowering my car. I don't want to go as aggressive as coilovers. Just looking for a static drop. Right now I'm at 27" gtf in front and 26 7/8" rear. I'd like to reduce that by ~2" in front.

On the suspension side of things currently, I'm running S4 springs and struts. I like the firmness of the ride, just not the altitude. Stock S4 springs are 350 lbs/in front and 290 rear. I'm looking for lowering springs that have similar spring rates so I can use the struts.

I'm thinking about running Tein S-tech coils. The lowering is reported to be 1.9 front and 1.1 rear. This would put me around 25" gtf. What am I going to rub on if anything at all? 18x8 et35 wheels.

The only example I can find of a B5 with this setup is here. He makes no mention of any issues with rubbing, etc. If you know of other examples, throw them out there. Other spring options are also welcome.

H&R race springs are similar in ride to S4 springs (a little stiffer) and drop 1.9" front, ~1.5ish rear. I like them a lot.

I had looked at the H&R race, but couldn't find any published spring rate. What size wheels are you running? Do you rub at all?

coilovers are only as aggressive as you want them to be. unless of course by aggressive, you meant expensive...

I don't really want or need all of the adjust ability of a coilover. I'd rather set it at a certain height and be done with it. To get a "good' coilover is very expensive. The cheap ones seem to only have lowering in mind with complete disregard to handling or ride comfort.

I don't have them but I've driven cars that did. One was on those springs and running 18x8.5 wheels and 225-40 tires. I don't recall rub on my drive.

You can set the height of a coilover and be done with it, and then maybe one day you'll grow a pair and want to adjust it again. With springs that can't be done, but you made the wise decision of buying coilovers so now you can!

^^ agreed.

I have H&R sport springs on H&R sport shocks. I love the ride, very comfortable but sporty at the same time. I went from 27 GTF in the front to 25, and 27.5ish to 25.5 rear. So it was actually 2 inches all around. I like it a lot. I felt the same way that I didn't want to adjust anything. Install and forget.

With that said, I want coilovers now!

I had 17x7.5's with 225/45's 42 offset and there was no rubbing. I have the same wheel set up now but the offsets are different. 24.5 up front and 20 in the rear. I pulled the rear fenders so they don't rub but the fronts will rub if I hit a bump. I just need to roll those and it'll be fine. I may pull them a bit too. Your set up with be just fine.

I know that I do have the range of adjustability with coilovers, but I don't see the need. This is a DD that just needs to come down a little bit. I don't see myself in the sub 25 gtf range. I have coilovers on my rx-7 and haven't changed them since I installed them. For $160 shipped, I think springs are where it's at.

This is what I want...

That looks lower than 25" to me. I'd say 24-24.5. I should know because I'm at 25".

I can't remember where, but I read 24.5 is the optimum height for performance on our cars. Who knows though. It sure looks good though.
