Default Ticking Noise

Ok so I have a 99 A4 2.8 Manual Quattro.

I recently had the timing belt changed about 2 years ago and around a month ago I started to notice a loud ticking sound.

I am unsure where to begin, is it the timing belt?

I live on Long Island and I have no idea where to bring it if anyone knows any good shops who work on audis for a good price or any ideas as to what the problem is it would help me out big time.

Thanks

You may be getting low on oil. Our cars "tick" when they need oil.

i checked the oil...the oil level is good...so it cant be that.

If the timing was off would it tick?

Bring that the timing belt was done two years ago how many miles have you put on since? How often does it tick just on warm up or when it's running at temp? Does the tap match with the rpms or does it fade out after idle?

if its at the back of the engine near the top then it probably is your cam tensioner.
pop the hood and take a listen at it.
