Even with a tough pinch bolt I got those out in under 15mins, heat and force made it easy. This thing is the biggest PITA ever. What we were doing was similar to Jermey. We put 2 sets of vice one holding on the threads of the outter tie rod and the other on the bolt. We would lean one set of vice grips against the inner fender and with all force of weight/muscle try and move the other! It was a joke... After 2 hours is when I gave up and said F this I'll pay someone!

I just did the driver side about a month ago and I had it in and out in about 20 mins...

ya if the fat guy can't do a chin up he's no good. try cutting a notch into a piece of pipe and put it on the end of the tierod.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. This crap is easy. The inner TRE has a wrench flat (19mm if I remember correctly) or vice grips work just fine. My pinch bolts were a major pain but this wasn't a problem at all.

Yeah my driver side TRE came off by hand and was dine in 5 minutes. The other side was corroded and seized all the way up the threaded shaft. Dragonrage, you got lucky that both sides were in good shape.

I am getting ready to change my TRE where did you get yours at and about how much were they. I found these at Autozone.com http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...&parentId=46-0 should I get them or go somewhere else.

Thanks

I got mine when I bought a full front end kit. Front up and lower ball joint/control arms sway bar links and TRE for $300 for driver & passenger! I replaced whole passenger side and only TRE on driver but now I have the parts if I need them! Which was kinda funny when the shop called when they were doing the alignment and I was like well **** there is a TRE in the truck! But I didn't wanna pay labor for something I could do! *thought I could do

Mine also came in my control arm kit. $242.10 shipped from FCP Groton and it's excellent. Check your control arm bushings and joints. If the TREs are worn, chances are the arms are too, so you may as well get the full kit, put in a day's work, and change all of it. The difference is tremendous. Hell, my tires don't even rub now, whereas they were rubbing constantly before yesterday when the work took place. Car is rock-solid now.
