Default Time for an oil change...

The service light "OIL" just popped up. Does the system monitor oil and tell you when it needs to be changed, or does it just assume once it hits a certain milage from the last time it was reset? I got a change a couple months ago, but the bastards didn't put the sticky in the window with the milage, and I'm assuming they didn't "reset" the counter. Seems like it's too soon, but I can't remember now what the milage was when I did it...

But if the system monitors the oil itself and knows that it needs to be changed regardless of the miles, guess I better jump on that. I've been waiting to Seafoam when it was about time to do an oil change... just might be that time!

for oil changes i usually look at it this way... 1) mileage: every 3-5k miles depending on how convenient it is for me to get it done, and kinda on what oil i choose (full syn is a must). 2) Make sure to do it 4 times a year... i generally do it right before it gets realll cold (december), when it starts to warm up (march), when it gets nice out (june), and then when then leaves start to turn (sept).

so if you forget, and its been over 3 months DO IT! better be safe then sorry right?
