I have two houses, one in PA and one in MI. My PA house doesn't have a garage but I haven't found a job yet that I couldn't do in my driveway. I am just finishing up rebuilding my heads along with timing belt, water pump, etc...

The only problem is that I need to have two sets of tools.

How difficult of a job is it on a 1.8T.

This thread started ok but now...

The idea of a timing sticky honestly just clutters up the already-cluttered sticky area with yet another thread that no one will bother to read (coughFAQcough). Plus the DIY section has a procedure for the 1.8T on this forum as well as on the Zine, on AudiWorld, audidiy.com, and any/allcan be found via Google in .000554 seconds. If that many resources aren't enough to prevent thread after thread after thread after thread from appearing and asking the same questions, then why would another thread containing all of it?

It's the nature of the Internet forums - some questions will be forever repeated, and even including all the FAQ info in the registration email won't put an end to it. Just direct people to the existing resources or ignore the threads.

As for how difficult it is, we can't answer that since we have no idea what tools and experience you have. I'd tell you it's no big deal but I've done about 50 of them. My mother would say it's impossible - she never tried one. It's more involved than an oil change but easier than rebuilding a transmission. If you can give us background on your experience, and read the DIY, we can help you decide whether to tackle it yourself.

So, I guess my answer was pretty spot on...
