Default Tire size question (probably not what you think)

this may seem like a semi-dumb question, but i have a 2001 a4 quattro with 235-45-17 on all 4 corners. the fronts are due for replacement and i have the opportunity to get a pair of new michelin pilot sports on the cheap, but they are 225-45-17. my question is, with the 235's in the rear, if i put 225's up front, will it **** off the Quattro system enough to cause damage? or will such a small change in tire size be okay to run?

thanks in advance

I wouldn't do it. Maybe for a couple miles but that's it. The width doesn't matter but when the width changes and the aspect ratio is the same that means you're changing the height of the tire. Not good

Ya that's what I was thinking. Just wanted a couple people to throw their 2 cents in... It's a hard deal to pass up. Maybe I'll just flip them for some cash

AnywAys how'd you end up with 235's? Not the most common seventeen inch rim. Sometimes its goo to stick with a more common tire size and 225 is a hell of a lot easier to find

I just recently bumped up from 225-45-17 to 225-55-17 because of a great deal and they just barely fit. thought I was looking at wheel spacers there for a minute.

Got the 235's from a friend. Not sure where he got them. But they were cheap and I needed to get my yoko ice guards off. I've actually had like 3 sets of 235's on this car. Not on purpose but I like them for what it's worth.
