Default Towing with an a4

I have searched on here a bit and haven't found a for sure answer specific to our cars.

I am moving back to cali in july and want to save on moving costs. I was thinking about towing a u haul trailer (4x8 low profile)

What do you guys think about towing about 600 pounds on a trailer from Indianapolis-La basically 2100 miles.

The specs on the car are:
2001 1.8T A4 FWD AWM Engine and no mods

If you have the auto tranny, definitely no. If you have a manual tranny, the worst case scenario is replacing the clutch. If you have the car loaded and towing something, I don't think the car will last verey long on the road lol. How much more would an alternative cost?

owners manual says you can do it, but it is not recommended. and audi said the same.

so in conclusion it's possible but not a good idea.

Definitely nothing over 500 lbs. I would recommend getting a UHaul

I say go for it. I have a 98 2.8 avant with a trailer hitch and it works great. I only use it to tow my small utility trailer for my go-kart which is around 1500lbs fully loaded. The hitch specs say not to exceed a 300lb tongue weight.
