Towing with an a4
Tounge weight is whats sitting on top of the ball hitch, no trailer weighs that much unless its a 5th wheel. Towing weight should be around 1,500-2,000 lbs. Towing requires torque, something the 1.8T doesn't produce much of. I wouldn't exceed 1,200 lbs personally, so you would be right there or over that. IMO the 1.8T isn't a good choice to tow with, if it were a 3.0L, 2.7T, or 4.2L i would say go for it.
yeah, i would say 600 was a heavy guess since my pallet including my gf's stuff(isn't coming with me this time) was a lil less than 500. But I do now have a 75gal aquarium and stand(moving empty of course)
But yeah, the reason I was inquiring about this was due to cost. The trailer would cost 300 and a uhaul towing my car will cost 1300. lol
Looks like i'ma have to bite the bullet on this one.

so i checked the specs on my hitch for a B5 A4 and it has a max trailer weight of 2000lb, max tongue weight of 200lb. the 2.8, 2.7t, 3.0, 3.2, 4.2 engines would be best. as for trannys, auto or M, it dosnt matter, as long your good on the clutch. i suppose you could do it with the 1.8t but it'd put alot of stress on the engine, unless maeby its chipped (more torque)
