Default Transmission on 1.8T

I have a 97 1.8T w/ 5 speed. I'm thinkin about changing the oil on the transmission.

Any suggestions? Pointers?

Anything I should not do?

It seems pretty straight forward, take out, put in, make the level proper.

Anyway, thanks.

Yeah, u might as well do the rear diff while ur at it too. The drain plug is tamper proof (See the writeup), put lots of paper down cause with trying to pump the fluid up there it makes a mess. Synthetic only. Read the writeup on audidiy.com.

Yeah its pretty easy to do just get the tool and follow the write up https://www.audiforums.com/forum/diy-do-yourself-55/b5-5-spd-tranny-fluid-change-sandman-18729/

i just did it (the trans and the rear diff) recently following the write-ups and it was easy. i would suggest having two sets of jack stands so you can get all four corners up to keep it level, and also get it AS HIGH AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN or it can get frustrating.

i bought the special bit for $11 shipped from ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Trans...1687QQtcZphoto) but if you get that one and not the one listed in the write-up, just remember that you will need a 17mm hex bit as well (the one mentioned in the write-up is both tools in one)
