i have an automatic transmission everything was running fine for a while ive had the car for about 9 months within the last 2 weeks ive noticed that when i start going from a stop sign or a red light here and there not always it seems to vary sometimes its often sometimes it barely does it all but the car will rev up kind of high and then shift and sometimes its just the rev and then it shifts smotthly but sometimes its a rev and then you can feel a thump kind of like the engine rocked back and hit the firewall it mainly only does it from 1st to 2nd and only when im taking off from a stop light or stop sign also ive noticed that when it shifts out of first its been shifting around 2500-3000 rpms instead of 3500 like usual and after it gets to a higher gear and sits there the rpm needle doesnt sit still it just kind of wobbles between 1000 rpm and 2000rpm and ideas what could possibly be the problem and should i really worry about it i know one of the engine mounts broke a while ago so that would probably explain the thump after the shift but idk why its does any of that

 

Wow. .,!?: These are called punctuation marks. Try to use them once in a while In any case, fix your broken motor mount for one. Also, have you noticed any type of fluid leaks? Your fluid may be low. It could be alot of things. Do you have access to a VAGCOM?

 

it was actually taken care of today because of the coolent temp sensor being dead autozone cleared the codes out and it ended up clearing the parameters to the transmission the dealership had the car today and hooked the transmission up and said that everything is fine with it to just drive it as normal and it will eventually break back in

 

Gotta love codes. Good thing it was something simple

 

ever since i braught it back from the dealer its been fine it still here and there has a bit of a rev but nothing anywhere near what it use to do

 

sorry for bringing back an old thread but on my 1999 a6 2.8q automatic it shifts up at around 3k from 3rd to 4th and from 4th to 5th. And I do have a check engine light, one of the codes is for a coolant temp sensor. Do you think that it is the same problem that you had?
